We are having a good time at the Miami Everglades RV Resort! This sweetie greets us each time we enter the resort! We were out on our walk around the area this morning and we came to a fork in the road! Whatever shall we do?!
We got a text from our son-in-law Keith Ervin, Michelle's husband. He is a corporate pilot and was flying some of company owner's family down to Key Largo yesterday. He offered to drive up and take us out to lunch today. So this morning about 1100 hrs Keith drove up and was great to see him! They just bought an Alliance fifth wheel, a larger model than ours but very similar. They took delivery of their coach a few weeks ago so we sat around here and talked "Alliance stuff" for a while then headed to a nearby Mexican restaurant called Tariacuri. This was REALLY authentic and oh so good! We each had quesadilla's with different meats in them along with Spanish rice, refried beans and salad. They were awesome!
After lunch Keith headed back to Key Largo and Doreen and I headed out to the Miami Military Museum. The museum is located in the same park as the Miami Zoo and a railroad museum. It was a beautiful drive down the long entrance. At the end of this drive was a closed zoo and a huge COVID testing/vaccine tent area.
Just before the zoo we took a right and drove a bit further to the Miami Military Museum. I did not see anything about them being closed on the web sire, but they were gated and locked up tightly.
It appeared like the railroad museum might have been open, but by that time they were getting ready to close soon, so we turned around and left the area. Home Depot was on the way back so we stopped in there for a couple things and then headed back to the campground. As I mentioned before this whole area around our campground is very agricultural. The pictures above we just a couple areas we passed. One appears to be palm trees ready to be sold and transplanted, and the other is a nursery where they are growing potted flower plants of some sort. We will get more pictures of the surrounding area in the days to come.
This evening we hit the swimming pool again. I could sure get used to this! On the walk back I snapped a picture of this little guy. These are all over the place here.
Tomorrow we plan to head down towards Key Largo. Wednesday we will go back on Rte 41 towards Naples a ways and visit the Valujet Flight 592 Memorial and also visit the Shark Valley Visitor Center. This is an Everglades educational center that includes a boardwalk and an observation tower. We purchased the tram tickets for a two hour tour there. Thursday and Friday we are planning to go Lighthouse hunting and possibly a boat tour.
