23 May - Last Day at Jetty Park, Cape Canaveral

Our last day at Jetty Park at Cape Canaveral was productive.  This morning Doreen wanted to visit a sea shell store (say that real fast five times).  She has decorated our bathrooms and other rooms at home with a lighthouse and ocean theme to include sea shells.  They look really nice.  So today we stopped at a store that specializes in this stuff and I think she was in sensory overload!  They had any kind and every kind of sea shell you can imagine!
She picked up a few items for home and a couple for our RV.  On the way back to the RV we stopped at the grocery store for a few items.

The rest of the day was spent here.  I washed the truck, flushed the tanks and stowed the hoses, washed and stowed the large mat we use on the ground outside the RV in areas that sand, rocks, etc.  I also used the Dyson inside to suck up the sand we had tracked in and then Swiffered the floor while Doreen was washing the last load of towels and clothes.

We have really had a great time here and would definitely come back to Jetty Park.  If you are a camper I would highly recommend you check this place out.  The campground was great, the staff was extremely friendly, the proximity to the beach was a real plus.  A two minute walk if you take your time! We enjoyed our beach walks and playing in the surf - was really not swimming but that is OK. We wonder what it would have been like had the cruise ships been operating.  I can only imagine it would have been extremely busy.

Visiting Cape Canaveral, the lighthouse and the tours of historic launch sites was awesome as was Kennedy Space Center.  It has changed a ton since we were here with our young kids and our rented red Chrysler Sebring convertible!! As our son Dan recalled, yes we did have the top down and the heater going at times with three kids stuffed in there plus two adults and our luggage!  Great memories.

Most importantly we are thankful for our friends, George and Donna Walker and the time we had with them here and in their home.  We look forward to seeing them again at the Alliance Rally in Elkhart IN in August.

So tomorrow morning we will wave goodbye to Jetty Park and head up I-95 to the Jacksonville FL area We have reservations at the Pelican Roost RV Park at Mayport Naval Air Station, and it is right on the water!  We are supposed to have one of the few pull-through waterfront sites, how, I'm not sure but just luck I guess.  We are looking forward to spending eight nights there, through the Memorial Day weekend.

Next report, Jacksonville FL
