Unless you have traveled these roads it is hard to describe the beauty. Along side the roadway is a "babbling brook", in this case it is the Little Gorge River. There is white water all along the river. On the other side of the road is forest or in some places shear rock face. Fishermen are fly fishing. Picture-takers are capturing images of the landscape. Hikers and their families are trekking into the wilderness.
A ways down the road we reached Meigs Falls. The falls is on the opposite side of the river and there was no good way to cross it, so our pictures are from the pull-off.
Past Meigs Falls we hoped to take the Wear Cove Gap road north to highway 321, but there was a sign prohibiting motor homes, trailers, and large trucks, so we turned around and headed back to Townsend.
In Townsend, on the way back to the campground, we stopped for fuel and then we stopped at the Cades Cove Cellars winery for a little tasting! The wine was really good and Doreen chose three to take with us. The lady pointed out their logo - a bear. But look closer at his nose. It is a wine glass!
(L-R) Smoky Mountain Sunrise, Rustic Cabin Red and White Muscadine Semi-Sweet
After the wine tasting we headed back to the campground to prepare to depart in the morning. Doreen did a couple loads of wash while I cleaned the RV. We dumped the tanks, stowed the hoses and reviewed our route to our next stop: Ellijay GA
Your writing has given me a new appreciation of what I have in my own backyard. Can't wait to see where the road leads you next. Safe travels.
