Today we visit downtown Nashville. We look forward to seeing this area and the area that was bombed on Christmas morning. I cannot image what goes through the mind of someone who could do something like this.
Our KOA campground provides a shuttle service to downtown Nashville for a nominal fee. They will pick you up near the KOA office daily on the hour and for $10 round trip per person, will take you to downtown Nashville and drop you off in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame. The return trip is on the half hour. What a great perk! No Uber and no messing around with trying to park the big ol' brown truck down there. So we boarded the shuttle and headed downtown. Our driver was an Army Veteran that served in Vietnam. We had a great conversation and I repeatedly thanked him for his sacrifices and his service to our Country. About 20 minutes later we safely arrived at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Working our way up to Broadway we headed east into a sea of people! Wow this place is busy! We made our way east towards the river and stopped at Luke Bryan's 32 Bridge. We made our way to the rooftop lounge and enjoyed a cold one while we looked at the Nashville skyline. It was busy, but we were seated right away sharing a six-seat table with another couple.
We headed back down to street level, east one block to 2nd Ave S., and then north to the area of the 2020 Christmas morning RV bombing. The damage was obviously devastating, luckily the only fatality was the bomber himself but eight others were injured. The area was fenced off so we could not get close, but the damage was very evident.
We headed west on Broadway and though about stopping at Hattie B's Chicken but there were probably 100 people in line down the street to get in, so we abandoned that idea and continued west in search of Nashville's "What Lifts You" wings mural, on foot of course! We passed some great sights including some beautiful architecture.
It was quite a journey but we found it and of course, like everything else, there was a line down the street. We only waiting in line about 30 minutes and finally reach the mural.
From there we headed back towards the Country Music Hall of Fame and awaited the arrival of our shuttle. We were about at the end of our dog-meter (the length of time we can leave Liberty in the RV). She has never ever messed in the RV but we don't want to push the envelope on that. Not fair to her. We don't like to exceed six hours.
Side note - locals call the AT&T building the Batman building. There's an Ole Red in Gatlinburg. Have eaten there once. Wasn't greatly impressed.
