19 Apr - Arrived at Perry GA - Fair Harbor RV Park & Campground + Stats Update

Nice drive from Marietta GA, around Atlanta on I-285 the west to I-75 south to the Fair Harbor RV Park & Campground in Perry GA today.  This is stop #7 on our journey.  Today we traveled 130 miles with 2:29 drive time and one potty stop.

Before we start talking about this campground we had some excitement last night.  Watching the Cubs game about 9 pm and all of a sudden there were loud screeching tires. an loud crash, a bright greenish flash, and then we lost power!  We were guessing there was a motor vehicle crash that took out a pole pole and possibly a transformer.  We had no idea how long power would be out and we needed power to (1) retract the love seat footrests and (2) to stow the satellite dish before we could leave.  So now we are operating on batteries, and I have two, but we needed to conserve what battery power we had, so I started shutting things off and even disconnected a couple wires, then headed to bed.  About 2 am the power came back on.  This morning while we loitered for Atlanta traffic to slow down before leaving we walked the dog out the gate and found the pole, right on the curve outside the campground.  New pole and car parts laying around.  I need to capture lessons-learned and build a "power failure" checklist for future use.

So here we are in Perry GA.  This is a beautiful campground and unfortunately we are only here two nights.  We were hoping to be able to see an old military comrade here but due to some medical issues that won't be possible.  So we will get a few things done around the RV and tomorrow we plan to visit Lane Southern Orchards where they grow peaches and pecans, and they sell baked goods, wines and other things. The next stop is a two-nighter also, just a stopover and then once we hit Florida things will get pretty busy again.

So after arriving and getting set-up, we walked the campground and stretched out the legs a bit.  This place is really nice!  Not as nice as the KOA in Tucson, but this is really nice.  A few pictures:
