Down day today and therefore a short blog post. Not unlike being home, once in a while you have to take a down day to restock the pantry & fridge, clean up the coach, do some minor maintenance and make plans for the next stop, which will be tomorrow at the Atlanta-Marietta RV Resort located on the north edge of Atlanta. I selected that campground because of it's proximity to Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves. I think our drive to the ball park is about 10 minutes max.
We are attempting to visit every Major League Baseball Park and we only have a handful left. This trip we plan to visit the Atlanta Braves, the Tampa Bay Rays, the Miami Marlins, the Washington Senators, oops the Nationals; the Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates AAA team the Indianapolis Indians where our friend Joel Hanrahan is the pitching coach. Not only do we like to attend a game in each stadium but we like to do the stadium tour if they are offered. Pre-COVID we did most of the tours, but now it is hit or miss, no pun intended.
We have tickets to watch the Marlins play the Braves Thursday and we have tickets for a ballpark tour also. At our next MLB park in Tampa, we have tickets to watch the A's play the Tampa Bay Rays, but they have not resumed tours yet. I have not yet planned the Marlins, Nats or Orioles games but they are at home while we are camping near them so we should be able to attend, assuming we can get tickets. I was shocked that we were able to get tickets at all at Atlanta AND the starting price was $10! Unbelievable! So part of what I did today was make phone calls and coordinated parking for the big ol' brown truck at Tropicana Field. I also confirmed the Lockheed-Martin tours have not resumed. Tomorrow I need to coordinate a visit and parking at the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta,
We are so appreciative of Beth and Brad Herren for their friendship and hospitality here. As explained before, our friendship with Brad started in 1974 while in the Air Force in Maine. Those relationships, especially those bonds formed while serving in the military are for life and we are so very thankful for our lifelong friends. These RV trips allow us to see the wonderful sights of the great United States of America, the country for which we served for so many years, and to see our great friends, relatives and military comrades which are scattered from coast to coast. We are thankful for good health that allows us to travel and we are thankful that we have been blessed with the resources that allows us to travel. We can sit at home when we get old. In the mean time, "Rock on, Beavis!!".
