24 Apr - Cinnamon Sticks, The Villages Tour, Dinner with Bill and Jan

We started out this morning traveling about 17 miles west of the campground to Inverness FL to have brunch with Bill and Jan at the Cinnamon Sticks restaurant.  Bill and Jan like to ride there bicycles over here.  We had a great breakfast and also sampled the trademark "cinnamon sticks" pastries which were really good.

We then headed back to The Villages where they gave us the grand tour.  As we mentioned yesterday this place is massive, almost indescribable.  One of the places we stopped was the Eisenhauer Recreation Center.  There are many different recreation centers here and each one has a different theme.  The Eisenhauer center has a military theme.  Realizing many of the residents here are military veterans, many have donated some of their memorabilia. The Villages has done a great job displaying these items and paying tribute to our Armed Forces.

We continued the drive around, getting out and walking to the Lake Sumter Landing Market square area.  Bill showed us the WVLG radio station they run here and Doreen found a lighthouse as well!

On the walk back we passed a blooming magnolia tree and Doreen checked out the flower's fragrance

After an interesting tour around we returned to the campground for a few hours before heading back to Jan and Bill's for spaghetti dinner.  We relaxed after dinner and reminisced about our high school escapades, classmates and what we've been up to since.  The evening was topped out with a piece of Key Lime pie which was really good!

Tomorrow we will say our goodbyes to Jan and Bill, do some shopping, fuel the truck and do our pre-departure items in preparation for departure Monday morning.
