2 Apr 2021 - St Louis IL to Nashville TN

After our overnight stay in E St Louis we headed southbound towards Nashville TN, our next stop.  Another long day for us, traveling 314 miles.  That is not necessarily a long driving day in your typical sedan, but when you are driving a one ton truck that is nearly 23' long and 8' wide in the hips,  towing a trailer that is 8' 5" wide, almost 35' long and 13' 4" tall and weighing right at 15,000 lbs, you really have to "keep your head in the game"!  The general public does not realize how much distance is required to get all that rig stopped.  These drives are stressful and that is why we like to keep the travel days relatively short and we make frequent stops.  I try to keep our speed at 60 mph while towing.

In southern Illinois we passed Metropolis, hometown of Superman!!

The rivers were busy with barges hauling great loads!

Passing through Paducah, the gateway to Kentucky!

Finally in Tennessee!  Not far to go.

Before long we arrived at our next stop, the Nashville KOA RV Resort.  314 mile, 6 hrs 17 minutes travel time.  The trees are exploding here!

They quickly in-processed us and escorted us to our camp site.

The campground was not full when we arrived but it was full as night approached.  Again, snowbirds stopping off for a night or two on their way north.  The weather is magnificent!  Freezing temps are gone.  Tomorrow we will head downtown (keep in mind we are catching up with the blog writing this in future tense).
