5 Aug - NSTR Mount Pleasant PA

Relaxing day.  We drove south a few miles to Mount Pleasant PA.  On the way down we passed a vegetable market and made note of it for the return trip.

We stopped downtown at a beer store looking for Iron City beer which used to be brewed in Pittsburgh.  I enjoyed some of it when we were camping near here in 2016 and attended a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game.  This store had about any kind of beer you have ever heard of and she said if it was still made she would have it, and she did not, so I just assumed they no longer made it.  I hopped on the computer tonight and got conflicting info about it's availability so I will make some phone calls tomorrow.

I stopped by Advanced Auto and picked up a box of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), a chemical product used in 2010 and newer diesel engines. It is used in an emission reduction process called Selective Catalytic Reduction where it is sprayed into the exhaust stream where it breaks down NOx emissions into hydrogen and water.  Anyway, every so many hundred miles I have to add it to a DEF tank on the truck.

We visited a local Mexican restaurant for lunch which was very good.

Then we headed back and stopped at that vegetable market we saw earlier.  As pictured above, they had a nice selection of fresh veggies, baked goods, jams, jellies, you name it.  Everything fresh that is sold there is grown there.  I saw a fresh peach pie and it was still warm!  The lady who bakes their pies, breads, etc just brought them in, so that pie managed to come back to the campground with us!!  The campground had ice cream so dessert tonight was awesome!

Just down the road from our campground is this sign and associated building complex.  We have a good friend from Iowa that used to work at Westinghouse, so Doreen took this picture and sent it to her today.  A little investigating on the computer reveals this used to be the site of a Westinghouse nuclear test reactor called TR2.  This reactor had an accident in 1960 that involved severe highly enriched uranium fuel damage and has since been shut down, dismantles and removed.  So if I start glowing later on you will know why!

Back at the campground we relaxed a bit, walked Liberty around and called it a day.
A family enjoying one of the cabins and the kids are camping in a tent on the porch

Another picture of the fishing pond here at the campground.

Tomorrow is the day before we depart, so laundry again, flushing tanks and in general preparing to depart Saturday morning.  I discovered a screw missing on one of the air conditioner cowlings on the roof and I will get back up there and repair it.
