We pulled chocks this morning at the Madison/Pittsburgh KOA campground at 0841 hrs and made our way to I-70 westbound towards Ohio.
We passed over the Monongahela River bridge and quickly found a 13 mile wide slice of West Virginia before crossing over the Ohio River into the state of Ohio
A few blocks down the street is the Buckeye Lake / Columbus East KOA campground. We were in-checked quickly with an efficient staff and led by golf cart to out campsite.
Due to availability we are in one of their most expensive sites. It is a pull-through full hookup patio sites. They feature a large paved patio area complete with table and chairs, a glider, barbecue, and fire pit. The downside of KOA's for us is we end up paying for amenities such as all the kid's playground stuff we don't use. We did not have a lot of choice here and we do appreciate the other amenities such as trash pickup right at your site. For the most part, KOA's are fairly predictable from the standpoint of quality..., for the most part. This one is a KOA Holiday so it is nicer than most. The last one we were at near Pittsburgh was a KOA Journey, a lesser featured campground. We stayed in one of their top level campgrounds in Tucson AZ, the KOA Resort. We are only here for five nights so we are OK with an occasional higher priced, fancier campground.. The sites are nicely spaced too.
Cubs have an afternoon game against the White Sox, and out Directv is all tuned in so we will wrap this up, watch the game, have a cold one and maybe even take a nap!
