17 Jul - NSTR Down Day, Cleaning and Groceries, Chops on the Barbie!

Down day today.  No touring.  We slept in a bit, hung around here in the morning.  Doreen did some laundry while I vacuumed and Swiffered the entire coach.  Sinks cleaned.  Bathroom cleaned.  Before lunch we went to the commissary and restocked on groceries.  They have a very nice commissary here.

The weather alerts were going off all afternoon. The heat and humidity are stifling.  Sever thunderstorm warnings all around us, but we ended up with just a light rain for a few minutes and that was it.  The temperature dropped about 10 degrees but the humidity dropped significantly.  It is actually bearable outside now.

Since it was so much nicer outside this evening we grilled pork chops on the barbecue and watched the Chicago Cubs squeak one out in the 9th inning with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Tomorrow we drive to Branch Ave Metro station and take the Green Line to the Navy Yard/Ballpark station and walk to the Washington Nationals ballpark to watch them host the San Diego Padres.  There we will meet an old friend and comrade from the 132d Fighter Wing finance office, Doug Benskin.  I worked with Doug for years and he is now working at the Pentagon.  Will be great to see him again.
