8 Sep - Petoskey Lighthouse

The weather was less than desirable today but we headed south across the Mackinac Bridge and then southwest to Petoskey to have a look at the Petoskey Lighthouse.  It was about an hour's drive in the rain and conditions did not improve after we arrived.

The Petoskey Lighthouse is located slightly less than 1/4 mile out on the Petoskey Harbor breakwater.

Under normal conditions we would have walked out there and taken some pictures, but today, not so much!  The wind was really cranking and the waves pounded over the breakwater making conditions very unsafe.

Waves crashing over the breakwater today. The lighthouse is at the end of the breakwater!!

So we quickly took a few pictures and then headed back to the truck to get out of the rain and wind.

As we drove into town we noticed a Chrysler Dodge RAM  dealership.  We are due an oil change on the big ol' brown truck so she called and they have a service lane with no appointments.  On the way back from the lighthouse we stopped in there and they worked us in.  Was nice to get that done before heading to our next camping location.  I don't like to push the envelope on maintenance on our truck.  There are few out there right now to replace it!  As we hung out at the service lounge, I noticed this awesome picture,  Being a MOPAR fan, I really appreciated it.  I owned a 1969 Roadrunner like the orange one in the foreground, except mine was green.

This evening we went out to eat with our Florida friends Jill and Bob Junco as we both move on from here on Friday.

We don't have any firm plans for tomorrow yet.  There is the Castle Rock lookout we might visit.
