The weather was not so great when we departed Traverse City this morning. An ominous looking storm front was making it's way through the area.
Last time I saw something like that was the Iowa derecho of 2020! The first part of our trip was through Traverse City so we pulled out and were ahead of the worst of it. We had some rain, and the outside lanes were flooded pretty good but we stuck to the inside lanes and had no problems.
Just about noon we crossed the Mackinac Bridge. They were escorting those headed southbound, but I did not notice any escorts northbound. Traffic was flowing at the speed limit of 45 mph. We passed through the toll booth paying our $8 fee based on axles, and exited I-75 towards our campground.
The Lakeshore RV Park Campground is where we stayed last year and the folks here are friendly so we decided to come back this year. This campground overlooks Lake Michigan just west of the Mackinac Bridge. There is a road that separates the campground from Lake Michigan, but they own a section of beach and provide a pathway to the lake. This is the view from there.
Karen, the owner, in-checked us quickly and we got parked and set-up. For the most part the rain had passed for the time being.
The sites here are a little tight, but we are here for just three nights, so we can tolerate it for this short stay.
As we were setting up we were greeted by another Alliance 310 pulling in! Little did we know there was yet ANOTHER Alliance coach here in the park! Three! That means this is a mini-rally! Hell yeah! So the Alliance "FamAlly" is pretty tight-knit. If you own an Alliance coach, you are default family, or as we call FamAlly - a FAMally of Allies. Most of us belong to the same Alliance Owner's Facebook page of which I am one of the administrators. So we posted something about being here on the page and before long both of the other Allies had responded and we had a get-together this evening here at our coach.
